An Eventful Day

Today I made a name for myself in the world.

Never have I claimed to be well-known, or even known at all. I'm not strong, nor am I wealthy, and as I learned during my time in The Capitol, I keep my wits to myself. I figured that were I ever to become known, it would be as the mad monk Ramandu. But today that changed. Today I made my mark upon the world, small as that mark may be.

It all started with hunting on Gungla island, when the charming sylvan lady Ayella asked if anyone was selling a Wumpa Gourd. Having one in my possession, I offered it to her, and we decided to meet at the village of Khororan. While waiting for her to arrive, I decided to talk to the villagers, and discovered that some would let on more than they previously had. While tallking to one couple, I discovered that they had had the illusionist Colmert over for dinner on several occasions, and that he had entertained them with his skill. Causing tables to disappear, doors to become magically locked, and so forth. While puzzling over this new information, Ayella and Lundar appeared. I discussed this with them, and Ayella decided to question that family more closely. At long last, they told her something that we thought would prove very useful in our search for a path across the river. So we decided to try it.

Of course, such things are never that easy, and almost as though the evil spirit of the Gan Vara was watching us with hate in its heart, cave cobras and forest cobras started swarming all over the island, causing all of our intrepid little group to fall. After a mighty battle, we were all eventually rescued, and, now reinforced, we once more made our way to the suspicious spot on the river, and called forth the magic incantation which would grant us passage. Only.... it didn't work.

Oops.

So we tried again. We tried other spots on the river. We tried variations on the incantation we believed to be correct. Nothing worked. Saddened, disheartened, we slowly made our way back to the spot on the river which had provided us with so much hope and more disappointment. And, weary and downcast, I tried the last idea I had, the last thing I could think of that might let us pass.

And with the briefest of shimmers, an easily-navigatable path of stones appeared, rising above the water. At the sound of my startled yell, the other members of the group arose, and followed me across the now easily-traversable river. Suddenly, all our long hours of thought and attempts paid off, and with newfound energy we boldy made our way into the new lands, to go where not even Pogue Mahone had gone before. .... as far as we know, of course. :)

We found our way to the Deep Desert, where we were beset by lesser sand wurms. I hope I never encounter a greater sand wurm, for one of the lesser kind felled me from perfect health with a single monstrous bite.

I briefly stumbled into the cave of the earth wyrms. I shall never return there without an army of the strongest fighters, healers, and mystics in Puddleby. Though we longed to explore it, it seems more like a place that would appeal to Michael, Gurgi and their brethren. I say to you now... beware of any caves in the desert. Do not venture into them if you value your life.

We found other marvels in that desert, but I will not relate them here, leaving them for you to discover. After we had conquered the desert.... well.... that is.... we managed to retreat without any serious casualties.... anyway, where was I? Ah, yes. After our jaunt through the desert, we decided to follow the northbound river, which seems to divide the northern part of the island into two (or possibly more) pieces. Although we saw many interesting sights across the fast-flowing river, we could not find a way across it. The secret to entering the northwest part of the island does not seem to apply to crossing anywhere else. Another search must be undertaken, to discover how we may reach the northern village Brimoran (northeastern, apparently), and the evil village of Gan Vara.

And I hope that I will have a chance to continue exploring the island, to learn the secrets of the rivers. I hope that Ayella will aid me, as well. For having never met each other before today, we made a remarkably good team.

Amusingly, many people in the group wanted to name either the river or the crossing after me. I find that amusing because not only am I practically unknown in Puddleby, I didn't even find the key to crossing the river. I only figured out how to apply it correctly. If people insist on naming it, call it the Ramayella fords or something. Heh. That would be funny.

I took a visionstone of the event, so I hope to post pictures eventually. I just need to find somewhere I could put them...

But yes. That was my day.
